Frequently Asked Questions

A coach empowers clients to take ownership of their health and well-being. They help clients build self-awareness, confidence, and resilience, enabling them to make informed decisions and navigate challenges more effectively.
A low carb diet can offer several potential benefits. Here are some reasons you may consider a low carb diet:
  • Weight loss
  • Improved blood sugar control
  • Reduced risk of chronic disease, including Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome
  • Reduced cravings and improved appetite control
  • Improved energy levels
  • Better heart health
  • Potential therapeutic improvements in medical conditions like epilepsy, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and certain neurological disorders
The effectiveness and suitability of a low carb diet can vary from person to person.

While low carb diets can be effective for weight loss and improving certain health markers for some individuals, they are not suitable for everyone. You should take some considerations into account before beginning a low carb diet, such as

  • Nutrient deficiency
  • Temporary “keto flu”
  • Digestive system sluggishness
  • Increased risk of some health conditions based on food selection, family history, and personal history (like cardiovascular disease, kidney stones, and osteoporosis)
A low carb diet may be suitable for individuals with selected health concerns or individuals in the following categories:
  • Prediabetic or Type 2 Diabetic
  • Metabolic Syndrome (a cluster of conditions that include high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, abnormal cholesterol, and excess abdominal fat)
  • Insulin resistance
  • PCOS
  • Weight loss
  • Neurological disorders like epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and traumatic brain injury
  • Gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Food or sugar addictions

A low carb diet and a ketogenic (keto) diet are both dietary approaches that restrict carbohydrate intake but differ in their carbohydrate limits, macronutrient composition, and metabolic effects.

A low carb diet involves reducing carbohydrate intake but does not set an aim for the maximum quantity to consume. It pays little attention to protein or fat intake. This diet focuses on whole foods and steers away from processed and refined carbohydrate-rich foods.

A ketogenic diet aims for a balance of macronutrients designed for each individual. Generally speaking, carbohydrate intake is limited to 20-50 grams per day depending on individual goals. As the name implies, a ketogenic diet is designed to place the body in a natural and sustained state of ketosis in which the body is creating ketones to use as energy (or fuel). Importantly, a ketogenic diet will also set intake goals for high-quality proteins, such as beef, poultry, pork, fish, seafood, organ meats (if tolerated), and healthy fats (such as avocados, full-fat dairy, nuts, and seeds).

Here’s a snapshot of what clients experience during the coaching process.

      1. Clients will first book a consultation through the Low Carb Ambition site. You may do that by clicking the “Book a Consultation” button at the top of this page or visiting our contact page.
      2. If booking a 90-minute consultation, clients should receive a client intake form. They must complete this form prior to their consultation. (This helps us prepare and personalize the information we share with you during the meeting.)
      3. During the consultation, we’ll discuss health and wellness goals and coaching options and then schedule a follow-up appointment.
      4. From there, clients and their health coach will schedule meetings and other details based on the client’s desired service.

  1. To learn about the process or details of a specific service, be sure to ask your coach to walk you through that service during your consultation or follow-up appointment.
